A notion of retreats? … Ok, whatever

…but why charge for retreats? Do you pay to breathe?

There is a notion in Therapy and Spiritual circles; Non-Duality ones included,  that one might benefit from giving and participating in Retreats. This is all very well. Good luck to all and sundry.  You will notice that they usually happen in pleasant surroundings; bathed in rest and relaxation..sounds great of course.  Enjoy what you find. Stroke the cat.

If it is, it is.

However, as a seeker of liberation, enlightenment, inner peace or whatever the latest buzzword is this month, please don’t get persuaded by the idea that this Retreat might actually ‘do the trick’ ; might ‘answer my questions’; might free myself from my ‘identity’ ; might allow me to dwell in pure presence(!?);  might dissolve the ego etc, etc, etc.   …That’s all, ok?. It doesn’t matter of course…it’s just a game…just the industry you’re immersed in / entranced by. Curiousity charged the cat…

The Industry

It’s an Industry;  like any other for the most part. A nice dream and nothing more. The person at the head of the class, talking the talk, is a salesperson….the one who begins and perpetuates the conversation…the one who charges to watch you breathe, the one who charges and travels the global ‘oneness circuit’…and sells books and dreams about something called ‘there is nothing you can do’.

Let these people give the retreat for free…let these people in no way get paid (or charge) for their time, their presence, their message…. their one to one’s, their board and lodging, their online skype consultations… let them all do that for FREE and then go and find how many are left.
